And, if you want to send us a private message...

Giraffe Upload site updated

I’ve updated the Giraffe Upload web site,  the home page now explains better what Giraffe Upload does, there’s a new page about shooting directly to SmugMug and the page about different ways to backup your photos now has a nice summery at the top and text instead of the endless table of the old version. Also, you can now signup for the free trial from every page of the site. As always, I want to hear your opinion, you can leave a comment, send me an e-mail or use the contact form.

Giraffe Upload 1.3.2 Released

I’ve just uploaded a new version of Giraffe Upload, the new version contains multiple bug fixes, mostly to what happens when a trial subscription expires but there’s also one uploading bug that was fixed. If you have Giraffe Upload installed it would update itself automatically over the next day or so, there’s nothing you need to do.

Plans for 2012

In the last blog post I’ve talked about what happened in 2011, in this post I’ll talk about plans for 2012, but first a disclaimer: A year is a long time for a software company, this post outlines the current plans for the year but those plans will change as the business and technology environments change during the year So now that we got that out of the way here are the plans for the various products: yaTimer time tracking software and yaTimer Central yaTimer and yaTimer Central will continue to be developed based on customer...

2011–the year that nothing went according to the plans

Again this is the time of year for summarizing the passing year and making plans for the next one. Businesswise nothing went according to plan in 2011, some things went worse than the plan and some things were way better. The bad parts are mostly traced to several months I was so swamped with other work I had nearly no time to work on my products, here are the 2011 plans and how they turned out: yaTimer time tracking software was supposed to have a major upgrade – in reality it had many...

Introducing Giraffe Upload PRO

Giraffe Upload was always intended to serve two very different audiences – the home user and the professional photographer. The home users just want their photos safe without them even noticing the software – the software should work and stay out of the way – an example of an home user oriented feature is the backup scheduling, it is not configurable and is pre-fine-tuned to upload reasonably quickly without blocking the user’s internet connection too much. For a pro who want to push photos from the camera directly to SmugMug (via a computer with Giraffe Upload of course)...

Giraffe Upload is Live

Giraffe Upload – my automatic photo backup software is now available for download. The cool thing about Giraffe Upload is that you install it and never have to think about backups again – well, at least for your photos – not only it’s fully automatic but it’s also monitored – if, for some reason, something goes wrong with your backup it will e-mail you. I would like to thank all the beta testers for their very important feedback and invite everyone who has an hard drive full of priceless digital photos to give Giraffe Upload a try.

Giraffe Upload Almost Ready for Release

I’m very happy to announce that what I hope is the last beta version of Giraffe Upload photo backup software is ready. This version will go out to friends and family today and to people who requested to participate in the beta tomorrow or the day after (if I don’t find any last minute show stopper bugs, obviously). The software is feature complete (for a first version) except for automatic updates and payment processor integration. And if you don’t already have good reliable and completely automatic backup for your photos and you want in on the beta...
