I thought I wasn't a creative person, I just can't think of a software product idea, I don't have topics for blog posts and there is no chance I'll make any graphic design more interesting from black text on white/gray background.
I thought creative people just have ideas pop into their head.
I was wrong. Creativity is just picking ideas you see in front of you and using them, and the moment I start paying attentions I've started getting so many ideas I don't know what to do with them.
I got the idea for my software product (yaTimer, a time tracking application) from a blog post (full story here) since then I've had 3 more products ideas just waiting for me work on them, before I couldn't even keep the blog at one post a week, now I post almost every day and have about 20 unpublished posts waiting.
The big secret to being creative is just to be open to opportunities, I see some software limitation - I write code to solve it, I find a bug I think people should no about and I blog about it.
And I also write things down so I won't forget them.
